Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?
I understand life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. If the session is missed or canceled late, the full fee will apply. However, if there’s an emergency, just reach out as soon as you can, and we’ll work together to reschedule.

Do you provide in-person or online counseling?
Right now, I only offer therapy online through a secure telehealth platform, which allows us to connect comfortably from wherever you are.

What is therapy?
Therapy is a safe space where you can talk about what’s on your mind, and together, we’ll work through challenges—whether big or small. My role is to support you, help you make sense of things, and equip you with tools for lasting change. It’s a partnership where your voice matters most.

What can I expect from my first therapy session?
In our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and what you’d like to work on. We’ll also take some time to build rapport and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
Finding the right therapist is personal, and it may take a session or two to get a sense of how we connect. It’s important to feel comfortable and safe with me. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, no worries—I can help you find someone else who may be a better match.

How often do we meet?
The frequency of sessions depends on what you need. Most people start with weekly sessions, but if you feel bi-weekly works better for you, we can adjust to what feels best for your journey.

How long do I need to be in therapy?
The length of therapy is entirely up to you. While many people work through issues in 3-6 months, some may need a little longer. The important thing is that we go at a pace that feels right for you, whether that’s a few months or a year. We’ll check in together and make adjustments as needed.

What if I want to take a break from therapy?
That’s totally okay! You’re welcome to take a break whenever you feel it’s right for you. When you’re ready to come back, just reach out, and we’ll pick up where we left off.

What’s the difference between an LCSW, psychologist, and psychiatrist?
An LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) focuses on talk therapy and has a master’s degree, with ongoing education. Psychologists also offer therapy but specialize in psychological testing (e.g., for schools or courts). Psychiatrists, on the other hand, primarily focus on medication management and are medical doctors who can prescribe medication but typically don’t offer as much talk therapy.

Are our sessions confidential?
Yes, everything we discuss is confidential. The only time I would need to share anything is if a court orders it, or if I believe you’re in immediate danger and need to contact someone for your safety (such as a family member or emergency services).

How can I pay for my sessions?
You can pay via Zelle, Venmo, credit card, or FSA, depending on your preference. Payment is due before or at the time of your session.

What if I lose my insurance or change employers?
If your insurance changes or you lose coverage, we can discuss options like private pay, a sliding scale fee, or a temporary break until your new insurance kicks in. If your insurance is out-of-network, we can talk about reimbursement options or finding a new therapist who’s in-network. Just let me know, and we’ll figure it out together!
